NORSK FILM - TEKSTET PÅ ENGELSK: NORTH, NORTH AND AWAY, REGI RUNE LANGLO

North
Erlend Loe, who most recently scripted Norway's Oscar and Golden Globe candidate, Gone with the Woman (2007, [Tatt av kvinnen]), has penned Rune Denstad Langlo's first feature, North.

Described as a "comedy roadmovie", North follows a former athlete, Jomar, who has isolated himself in a sad and lonely existence as janitor at a alpine skiing resort after recovering from a mental breakdown five years ago. One day an old friend shows up, and tells him that his ex-girlfriend gave birth to a son some months after Jomar left her without saying goodbye. On a snowmobile equipped with 5 liters of moonshine as provisions, Jomar embarks on a strange and dramatic journey towards the far north, to find his child that he just learned about.

This turns into a weird expedition, during which he gets to meet other tender and confused souls, who all contribute to pushing Jomar further ahead on his reluctant journey towards reality.

North had it's premiere at the Berlinale last year, where it won two prices. Since then it has been one of the most wanted Norwegian films with more than 25 festival attendances, where it have won more than ten prizes.
